A Day At The Eukanuba Championship Show

Yesterday Don and I went to the Eukanuba Championship Dog Show to see our friend Joy Mason DVM. She was invited by Eukanuba to come speak about Animal Communication. Dr. Mason gave a great talk and we really enjoyed what she had to say. We will be implementing her techniques here at PoodleTown to get in even better communication with our Poodles. I wonder what comments the Poodles will make about Raw Green Tripe we feed here at PoodleTown. As much as they LOVE IT I would expect great accalades about the tasty morsels.

In the foyer there were some designer custom Dog Houses. Take a look at this outrageous Octopus Dog House!

Then there was the “Diva House”, this one is for Poodles for sure!

What great imaginations the makers of these houses have. There were many others…all really cute!

We are so pleased that a Standard Poodle will be going into the Best In Show Ring and perhaps will be the big winner of the weekend!

Mimi and Valri’ Go To Florida

Mimi and Valri’, two gorgeous white “Trinity” aka Ch. Admiration Girls Just Want To Have Fun, daughters living in New Jersey with their devoted Mommy, Lucy Tyler, who is our featured artist on Poodlesupply.com. Lucy is a very prolific artist as well as a prolific writer. Lucy sends me emails and updates me constantly on what happening on the Eastern Front in Poodletropolis, NJ. Mimi and Valri’ have many adventures and sometimes even are a bit naughty, believe it or not. Last week’s adventure was that they went to Florida to visit “Grandmother” and their extended Poodle family.

Keeping white coat in the eastern hurricane weather can be a challenge for Mom but fortunately Mom is an Olympic Medalist and has boundless energy to keep up.

Valri’ started her show career in the ring with the famous Kaz Hosaka, who Handled “Vikki”, the all-time winning Toy Poodle in the history of the breed. Valri’ is currently growing more coat so that she can compete with the open females in the ever-competitive arena of the white Poodle Kingdom on the East Coast.

Coming soon Mimi and Valri’ will be shown in a Brace.

The American Kennel Club defines a Brace as follows in the. “Rules Applying to Dog Shows”

Section 18.

“Effective January 1, 2005. A brace is defined as two
dogs of the same recognized breed or variety that are similar
in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by
a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in brace
competition must have at least one common owner.”

We wish you girls luck and kisses. At night we sit and tell our PoodleTown family about the adventures of Mimi and Valri’ a place far, far away where white Poodles are Kings and Queens.

Hi Jacki,

Did I ever tell you about the tricks/commands King knows?

Here’s a few of them:

Sit
Down
Heel
Stay
Leave it
Drop it
Kennel Up
Visit (if someone wants to pet him, he will greet them)
Find it (hide a treat and make him look for it)
Shake
Go potty
High Five
Rollover
Jump
Up (this is for getting onto raised areas or cars)
Whisper (he makes a little whimper)
Speak (1 Bark)
“Bon Jour” (2 Barks)
“Ce La Vie” (3 Barks)
“Merci Beacoup” (4 barks)
Paws Up (He’ll stand on a object – bench, counter, cardoor, your arm)
Through (go between your legs)

He also knows words like “doggie”, “kitty”, “squirrel”, “bird/birdie”, “mommy”
And he rings sleigh bells (we hung by the door) to let us know he needs to potty.

Here are a few he is working on:

This is Winston. Winston is a seafaring Poodle and is very loved. He lives in North Carolina with his human parents who own a Yacht Brokerage Business. A happy and very lucky Poodle!

Leila, Jan and Dave! We are so proud of you here at Admiration! Poodles make very competent Therapy Dogs. Basically a dog is required to have common social manners, which is so innate to this breed. Therapy work is very rewarding to handlers as well. The world needs more folks like you! Spreading “Poodle Joy” is what it’s all about!

Dear Jacki,
Here are the pictures I promised (we will be taking more). Leila is now a full-fledged registered “therapy” dog (visiting dog)!! She is visiting many nursing homes and our local hospital. Talk about truth in advertising, Jacki, when you said that Leila would make a wonderful therapy dog–she is unbelievable! The residents are so blessed by her presence in their lives, and we so enjoy hearing their stories about their love for animals. Leila brings such joy to so many; we are very proud of her and admire and love her more than we can say. We hope all is well in your world.
